Report: Los Angeles Lakers, Byron Scott Agree to Deal
After months of speculation surrounding the Lakers vacant coaching spot, ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reports that Byron Scott and the team have agreed to a four-year, $17 million deal.
Scott’s last coaching gig was with the Cavaliers during the 2012-2013 season, leading the team to a 24-58 record before being eventually let go by management.
Since the departure of Phil Jackson back in 2011, the Lakers have been unsuccessful in finding a long term replacement, with Mike Brown and Mike D’Antoni both struggling to lead the team back to prominence.
This will be Scott’s fourth team he’s coached in the NBA, as he’s had stints with the Nets, Pelicans and Cavaliers, earning a 416-521 record during his 13 year tenure in the league.
