Report: Shawn Marion to Sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers
After receiving interest from the Clippers, Heat and Pacers, veteran forward Shawn Marion has decided to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein.
This will be the 5th team Marion has played for in his 16 seasons in the league, holding career averages of 15.8 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.
Since Cleveland is completely tapped out in cap space, Marion will have to accept the veterans minimum. However the incentive to play with Kevin Love and LeBron James should prove to be worth the pay cut if the team can win a title as early as this season.
With the additions of LeBron, Love, Marion and Mike Miller, the Cavs have become early favorites to win the Eastern Conference Title this season, currently ranking first in numerous NBA power rankings done by ESPN and Bleacher Report.
