It’s official. Stan Van Gundy is back in the NBA.

The former Miami Heat and Orlando Magic coach has reached an agreement “in principle” on a five-year, $35 million contract to become the Detroit Pistons’ head coach and president of basketball of operations, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.

It is also believed Van Gundy will strongly consider hiring former Orlando Magic General Manager Otis Smith as new GM of the Pistons according to Yahoo Sports Adrian Wojnarowski.

The two worked together for nearly five years in Orlando, guiding the franchise to it’s second ever Finals appearance back in the 2008-2009 season.
